Speaker Information
Melanie Clift, Director for Defense and Security, Satellite Applications Catapult - Melanie Clift is Director for Defence and Security at the Satellite Applications Catapult, a not-for-profit Research and Technology Organisation whose overriding aim is to help grow the UK space ecosystem. Melanie started her career in manufacturing and supply chain management within oil and gas and then financial services, before moving into the space sector in 2012. She has worked in technical business development across both upstream and downstream space suppliers within primes, start-ups, and academia.
Dr. Sharon Lemac-Vincere is a leading expert in Space Cyber Security and has recently developed and delivered the first executive space cyber security course in partnership with the International Space University( where she is also a visiting academic). Sharon has hosted two space cyber security conferences (Lancaster & Strathclyde), fostering collaboration among global experts and industry leaders. She conducts cutting-edge research focused on protecting space assets and has been featured in Forbes Magazine. Sharon has also recently produced the first version of Global Voices, a video montage of leaders in space cyber security.
As an interdisciplinary academic and entrepreneur, Sharon's expertise in entrepreneurship, cyber security, space systems, and decision science. Her work in cyber simulations and decision-making processes seeks to enhance security protocols in the space sector. Her contributions to education, research, and practical applications make her a pivotal figure in advancing space cyber security. Sharon has also designed the first Scottish Tartan for the space sector and hosts a podcast called: Space: No Rocket Required.
